D and I have another skin trend for you to try! We have been dermaplaning ever since we discovered these little face shavers at Daiso. It’s definitely becoming the ‘it thing’ to do when you get a facial. Dermaplaning essentially is a way to exfoliate your skin. As much as we love using the Ole Henriksen, Transforming Walnut Scrub, this will help to remove days of dead skin. It will brighten your complexion and get rid of all that peach fuzz.

  1. You’ll need: facial razor, oil (baby oil works best for us) and a cotton pad. You can get the facial razors from Amazon and Sephora (link below). We got ours at Daiso, one of our favourite places (its hard to get A to leave, she loves little trinkets). The purpose of the oil is to create a film of protection between your skin and the razor, just like shaving cream. Oil works much better because it helps pulls the oil from your pores as well. But if you don’t have an oil based substance you could use shaving cream.
  2. Make sure you wash your razor first, you don’t want bacteria to spread! Angle your razor and slowly move up , against the grain of your hair and toward your forehead. Try to hit a 45 degree angle otherwise you might end up looking like Edward Scissorhands.
  3. After every swipe of your razor remove the dead skin cells and hair onto your cotton pad. Take a look at all the garbage that’s been sitting on top of your beautiful skin.
  4. Once your done, you might notice some redness and a bit of burning, its totally okay. It’s an opportunity for your skin to produce healthy new cells. Use your favourite cleanser to get rid of the oil and moisturizer with any special cream/oil you have, the product works better when your skin is a bit damaged . Don’t use any other exfoliate, your skin is sensitive right now, remember to be gentle with it.

This DIY is easy to do at home and costs less than $10. Of course if you don’t feel comfortable doing it at home, many new facials include this service.

Enjoy the glow and tell us all about it.
